Wednesday WIP 4

Crochet Cowl by Sunshine Makings

Hi! I'm working on a new cowl crochet pattern...hope to finish and have it available soon!

If you like to crochet and like things that are free, please take a look at my collection of free crochet patterns.

Or, if you don't crochet, but love the look you can find all kinds of crochet goodies in my Etsy shop. I've also got a lovely infinity scarf pattern for sale there.

Wednesday WIP 3

This week's work in progress is a baby cocoon. I've seen these around and just love them. They are so sweet and snugly.

I have quite a few friends who are going to be having babies soon, so I thought I'd crochet one to get an idea of how it's done and then hopefully design some of my own when I get the hang of it. I've pinned loads of cute crocheted baby cocoons onto my crochet and knitting board for inspiration.

I was surprised at how quickly this one works up; I forgot how tiny things are for newborn babies. Pleasantly surprised, I've worked on this one tonight and know I'll finish it tomorrow! It's almost tomorrow right now as a matter of fact (hence the dark pics). And I'm heading to bed soon, otherwise I'd finish it tonight!

I'm linking up to some of these fabulous parties.

Wednesday WIP 2

WIP 1: This is three colors of yarn that I brought home from my knitting group. We're all working on 7" squares to put together as a blanket or blankets to donate to a nearby hospital. If any of you know of any great crochet patterns for 7" squares, I'd love to know so I can check them out and use some!

WIP 2: These are some baby hats I've been working on and am close to finishing for Sunshine Makings, my and my mom's Etsy shop.

WIP 3: This is an infinity scarf that I'm making for a lovely lady who bought it from my shop. It's been so much fun to make another one like the one I made for myself.

WIP 4: This is a lap robe that I'm making for my friend's husband who has recently started chemo treatment. It's from the book, Chemo Caps and Wraps by Annie's Attic, which has a great selection of crochet patterns for men, women, and children.

That's it for now!

Wednesday WIP

I haven't been able to finish anything in the last week, so I thought I'd show some Wednesday WIPs (works-in-progress).

WIP 1: is a hat for King Damascus. The first one was way too big. The hat pictured is too small. I think I'll get it on my third try...with different yarn. We wanted something eco-friendly and bought this recycled yarn on Ebay. I don't think it was meant for hats, but would work well for cup cosies or dishcloths or other similar items. Keep an eye out for recycled cotton cup cosies and sleeves in my shop soon because I don't want this to just sit in my yarn drawer for the next 5 years.

WIP 2: is a skein of yarn waiting to be a hat. Pink! Perfect for Valentine's Day!

WIP 3: is almost one wrist warmer for me. I'm going to attempt to add a flap because I like my fingers to stay warm when I'm walking to and from school, but I'm constantly needing my fingers to do other necessary things like use my phone and open my Burts Bees.

WIP 4: is to learn how to use my new machine that was a total surprise from KD! This was my absolute favorite Christmas present, even though I know I probably said the same thing about the Stitch Bible. It's true. I have two favorites. I just haven't had a chance to sit down and learn how to this one yet. It's going to the very top of my to-do list next week.

I hope all these are no longer WIPs next week!

WIPs and October catch up

It's been a busy week...too busy to blog! I was so busy with Halloween costumes last week that I could barely get pictures of them, let alone post about them. Now that October's over, I've got a minute to show a cute cowgirl and cowboy...

It's half home-made (chaps, denim vest, & orange blouse) and half from the closet & NCT nearly new sale. Both kids designed their outfits completely. I sketched them out as they told me so that I was sure I wouldn't get it wrong. They both loved their costumes and wore them to three different Halloween celebrations. By the fourth, they were tired of saying "Howdy" and went for their more typical attire as Cinderella (made by my mom) and Spiderman. I also managed to make a red riding hood cape, a wolf's tail, wolf hands, wolf legs, and wolf feet. Our floor was one furry mess after that.

I've also been busy with some works in progress...and doing some research on how to open an Etsy shop! I'm so excited about this. It's not open, yet, but it should all be set up soon! My mom and I will be opening our shop together. We like the name Sunshine Makings. What do you think?

This week's WIP

I've been having a great time in California with my family and friends...SO much fun that I have hardly had a chance to make anything. I have a couple works in progress that should have been finished by now, but they are slow moving due to days spent at the beach, eating frozen yogurt, meeting up with old friends, and hanging out with my kids, niece, and nephew. Rough, right?

This wip is one my mom (Kay from jerryandkay) are working on together. The last time we worked on it was at least a week ago, but we have all day Wednesday this week to get it done. Yeah! Here's a sneak peek at what my mom and I are making for my kids, their cousins, and my mom's neighbor (check out their cool cargo bikes here!)...

My mom's great at multi-tasking :-)

Hopefully, we'll have some finished work to show after Wednesday!
