Snowman & Santa

I had so much fun crocheting these cute little snowman and Santa Christmas ornaments.

Some for Sunshine Makings...some for me!

I just love the process of creating these little guys and watching them come to life when they were originally just a ball of yarn.

I especially loved the crocheted snowman and took lots of pictures of him.
'Tis the Season!

Sunshine Makings: new etsy shop

I am so excited to announce that my mom and I have just opened our Etsy shop: Sunshine Makings! This has been a goal of mine for the last two years and when my mom mentioned making some things for my 'future' shop we realised how special it would be to have a shop together. It is thrilling to have just pushed the key on my keyboard that sent the shop into existence. We would love for you to visit Sunshine Makings and share in our excitement.

For now, here is a peek at what we've got in our shop:

You might remember reading about my lavender harvest a few months ago. Well, I've used the lavender in these lovely relaxing eye pillows.

These cheerful mug cozies made by Kay (my mom) are great for keeping a cup of coffee, tea or hot cocoa warm.

Who can resist amigurumi? I love making these cute little animals like this little mouse and elephant that you may have seen here.

My absolute favorite is this baby blanket. It is so soft and I love the combination of colors.
I would keep it if I still had a baby. :-)

I hope you enjoy this small peek into our shop! I'll be announcing here when more items become available.

Crochet Best Bunny...

...but definitely not my best bunny. I started to make this amigurumi bunny for my little guy's Easter present last year. Yes, last year. Just ask my mom (and check out her blog...she loves comments!). I've been talking about finishing it for almost a year now. Thanks to Craft Your Stash monthly challenge, I made a goal to finally get it done. I rushed because I had to finish it tonight...the last few minutes of the challenge. I had all the parts (or so I thought) and quickly attached them all.

It is not my best crocheting, maybe even my worst. The feet look too small...I attached the arm at the wrong angle so it's constantly waving "hello"...the ears pretty much just stick straight out...the eyes are crooked...and it's missing an arm! I think I lost it my flights somewhere between California and London. Poor little guy with only one arm.

Do you like my setting for the pictures? I thought I'd create a story of how he lost his arm when he was exploring the train tracks, but I won't because it might be too gruesome (can you tell I was just watching CSI?). My one-armed bunny is from a Lion Brand pattern called Best Bunny. Isn't that funny. Funny Bunny is more like it! Maybe he'll learn to fly like Dumbo. The one thing I like about him is that he looks happy...and I hope he'll make my son happy, too!

Little Elephant

My project for the week was this cute little elephant amigurumi.

I'm working my way through a huge stash of yarn that I've collected over the last 5 years. Some of it is left over from finished projects. Some of it's part of an actual project...or two...or three that have been sitting, unfinished and collecting dust in my yarn drawer.

For this little guy, I used some lovely soft yarn that was left from a newborn nappy wrap I made for my little boy, who is now 2. I never ended up using the wrap on him, but it's been a favorite of Winnie the Pooh and other assorted dolls and stuffed animals in our house.

Anyway, back to my elephant. He is just so stinking cute. I think he's going to be the first of lots of little amigurumi. Maybe I'll do a pink elephant next.

Little Bunny Foo Foo

This one was made last spring, meant to be given as an Easter gift to my daughter. I have to be fair with my kids and so I started making a different one for my son. That one is still sitting in a bag in the closet. So, the bunnies were never given as Easter gifts. Sad.

Then my daughter had her birthday about a week ago and I found the bunny in my stash of future gifts. I added it to her pile of presents. She loved it! She sleeps with it every night and named it Foo Foo. Happy!

***May 2012 - We've since changed the name to Love Heart Bunny because my little girl got scared of the Little Bunny Foo Foo cartoon that she saw at school. She wanted nothing to do with this bunny amigurumi for a long time and I was glad to finally find out why!***
