Organic Cotton Cowl

Organic Cotton Cowl by Sunshine Makings

Here is a new creation crocheted from one of my favorite yarns by Lion Brand - Nature's Choice Organic Cotton. It is a super soft Organic Cotton Cowl. I can't claim credit for this gorgeous cowl, though, because it was made by my mom (jerryandkay).

I've use the same organic cotton for a variety of crochet projects, including a mug cozy (free pattern here), coffee cup sleeve, and baby blanket for my sister who's little boy is just one week old. :)
My favorites are the baby blanket and cowl.

Infinity Scarf Crochet Pattern

I know it's the first day of spring, and probably not the best timing for a cozy, warm infinity scarf pattern, but it's still really cold where I am...and it's always winter somewhere, right? I'm really excited to be listing the pattern for this infinity scarf in my Etsy shop. I named it Tulip Fields Infinity Scarf because of the tulip stitch which is used throughout the pattern.

On your way over to my shop, you might also want to check out the blogs of these fabulous ladies who helped test the pattern...

Sascha from A la Sascha, who has some gorgeous crochet doll patterns in her own Etsy shop
&
Shannon from Sewing Barefoot who blogs about all kinds of craft & diy loveliness
Kay (my mom & partner in sales) from Jerry and Kay, who writes about her ventures in crafting, sewing, and crochet.

...and thanks to Beth, too, who doesn't have a blog but was a wonderful pattern tester. :-)

Thanks for stopping by and I'll be posting more regularly now that my big deadline for work has almost passed. I've missed my hooks, yarn, and blogging fun over the last weeks!

Infinity Scarf

Infinty Scarf : Sunny Stitching

This is my newly finished infinity scarf. It's really warm and cozy. I want to wear it all the time.

Infinty Scarf : Sunny Stitching

I crocheted the infinity scarf using a stitch from my new Crochet Stitch Bible that I got in my stocking at Christmas ...Thanks, Mom!

Infinty Scarf : Sunny Stitching

I love the book, although I'm not a huge fan of the name. I really don't think any other book should be called a bible except for the Bible! Anyway, the book is fabulous, full of tips, great pictures, and best of all, full of over 200 crochet stitches.

It goes along perfectly with my new goal of writing my own patterns (check out The Crochet Challenge on JJCrochet). Hopefully, I'll have this infinity scarf pattern written soon...and free for you just like the slouchy ribbed hat crochet pattern.

* UPDATE: This infinity scarf is now available in my shop, Sunshine Makings. Click here to see it. *

Sheila's Scarf

This will probably be my last post until after Christmas because I'll be flying home tomorrow! Before I travel, I want to share this crochet ribbed scarf that I made for my friend who has been like family and loves my kids!

It's one of my first few attempts at making something without a pattern and I'm really enjoying the freedom to begin designing my own. The first was a crochet mug cozy that you can see here.

While I was crocheting the scarf, I put it around my neck after the first few rows to check the length and it was way too short, so short it would have fit my little girl! So, I frogged it and started again with a longer chain.

I think it turned out really cute and I like the color combo which is similar to a baby blanket I crocheted a few months ago. I just love how the pink pops...a great way to brighten up the winter months!

 Have a Merry Christmas!

Hat & Circle Scarf

It's been cold. This cold has inspired me to make a couple warm items. I became obsessed with this circle scarf a few nights ago and stayed up way too late to finish it. Not the best timing since I'm in the process of weaning myself off caffeine! I'm down to one cup of green tea. This is huge because a few weeks ago I was drinking two cups of coffee and often a cup of tea, too, on a daily basis. This will be a short rough tired patch, but I know I'll feel much better for it!

Back to the cowl...I mean circle scarf (aaah, caffeine I miss you)...I love it. It's really cozy and pretty and it's black which means it can be worn with just about anything. I made this one for my shop, SunshineMakings. I really want to make one for myself, too. :-)

I also made this cute plum purple hat weeks ago, and then forgot about it. For some reason, I remembered it while I was crocheting the circle scarf and pulled it out.

If you want one of these or anything else from Sunshine Makings, I'm offering a discount to anyone who reads my blog! Just enter the code SSBLOG and you'll receive a 10% discount off any item in the shop now through December 16th. Happy Christmas!
